Keegan McConnell
Keegan McConnell, Director / Partner of Orthopedia Physical Therapy, LLP, is a licensed physical therapist. A native of Dallas, TX, Keegan received his Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman's University School of Physical Therapy in 1999. Prior to entering physical therapy, Keegan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science from Centenary College of Louisiana, where he played collegiate soccer as a goalkeeper. Since 2001, Keegan has been co-owner of Sports Injury Prevention Programs (S-I-P-P), a performance enhancement and injury prevention outreach program for competitive, youth athletes.
Keegan focuses on treating general orthopedics and sports injuries of all ages. He specializes in manual therapy, sports medicine, and spine rehabilitation. Keegan is also actively involved in clinical research. His research has been published in the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy and has been presented at the American Physical Therapy Association's Combined Sections Meeting.
In his leisure time, Keegan enjoys playing the guitar and spending time with his 2 boys, Jack and Hayden, daughter, Kate, and his wife, Kristen-a physical therapist who specializes in pediatrics. Keegan and his family reside in Flower Mound, TX.
Kristen McConnell
Kristen McConnell, staff physical therapist, graduated from Texas Woman's University in 1999 with a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy. Since then she has practiced in a multi-disciplinary hospital setting where her primary focus was pediatrics. Kristen has treated children with a variety of conditions, including cerebral palsy, torticollis, orthopedic injuries, cancer, burns, brain injuries, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, and developmental delay. In addition to her skills in the area of pediatric physical therapy, Kristen brings an athletic background to Orthopedia. As a multi-sport athlete, Kristen has participated in school and club sports, including playing Division I soccer as a team captain at Centenary College of Louisiana. She also coached club soccer.
In her leisure time, Kristen enjoys spending time with her husband, Keegan, two sons, Jack and Hayden, and her daughter, Kate. She also teaches Gravity Classes at Orthopedia.
Jennifer Crossland
Jennifer Crossland, a licensed staff physical therapist, graduated from Southwest Baptist University-Bolivar, Missouri in 1998 with a Master in Physical Therapy degree. As an undergraduate at this university, she played collegiate volleyball. Since receiving her master's degree, she has practiced primarily in the orthopedic setting. She has completed levels I-III coursework with the North American Institute for Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT). She specializes in treating orthopedic and sports-related injuries. In addition, she enjoys treating runners, as she has a passion for running and has participated in local half and full marathons.
Jennifer is happily married to Philip, also a physical therapist. They currently have two sons, Luke and Reid. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family.
Jackie Simmons
Jackie Simmons, a licensed staff physical therapist, is a Wyoming native and grew up in Casper, WY. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree, graduating cum laude, from the University of Wyoming in 2006. Following graduation, she left her Wyoming roots and ventured south to pursue her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology at the University of North Texas, graduating in 2008. Jackie received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Texas Woman’s University in 2011.
Jackie specializes in treating general orthopedic and sports-related injuries. Her approach to physical therapy emphasizes a combination of an individualized, therapeutic exercise program and manual therapy interventions. This approach facilitates optimal restoration of strength and motion for an improved quality of life, while providing an opportunity for each of her patients to reach their greatest rehab potential. She is currently pursuing a manual therapy certification through the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT) organization.
In her spare time, Jackie enjoys running and playing indoor and sand volleyball.
Amy Lawry
Amy Lawry, office coordinator, has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare field. She has been with Orthopedia Physical Therapy since opening in 2007. She plays an instrumental role in assisting with the daily operations of the clinic and helping patients with their physical therapy scheduling and insurance needs. She is the mother of 4 grown children and grandmother of 4 grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys her family, watching her grandchildren play sports, and having fun with her dog, Ranger.
Kayla Holmes
Kayla Holmes, fitness coordinator, has been on staff at Orthopedia Physical Therapy since 2009. Her primary roles since that time have been as a physical therapy aide and receptionist. After receiving her certification as a personal trainer in 2011 through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, she began personal training at Orthopedia and teaching our Gravity group exercise classes. She also assumed the role of Fitness Coordinator for all training classes at Orthopedia. Kayla received a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Health Promotion from the University of North Texas. She plans to continue her education at Texas Woman’s University in Occupational Therapy. In her leisure time she enjoys staying active by camping and hiking with her husband, Tanner and their beautiful dog, Kramer.
