Keegan McConnell, PT, MS
Keegan McConnell, Director / Partner of Orthopedia Physical Therapy, LLP, is a licensed physical therapist. A native of Dallas, TX, Keegan received his Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman's University School of Physical Therapy in 1999. Prior to entering physical therapy, Keegan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science from Centenary College of Louisiana, where he played collegiate soccer as a goalkeeper. Since 2001, Keegan has been co-owner of Sports Injury Prevention Programs (S-I-P-P), a performance enhancement and injury prevention outreach program for competitive, youth athletes.
Keegan focuses on treating general orthopedics and sports injuries of all ages. He specializes in manual therapy, sports medicine, and spine rehabilitation. Keegan is also actively involved in clinical research. His research has been published in the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy and has been presented at the American Physical Therapy Association's Combined Sections Meeting.
In his leisure time, Keegan enjoys playing the guitar and spending time with his 2 boys, Jack and Hayden, daughter, Kate, and his wife, Kristen-a physical therapist who specializes in pediatrics. Keegan and his family reside in Flower Mound, TX.
Kristen McConnell, PT, MS
Kristen McConnell, staff physical therapist, graduated from Texas Woman's University in 1999 with a Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy. She has a passion for helping others, especially children. Since 2000 Kristen has worked at Cook Children's Medical Center, as both an inpatient and outpatient therapist. In 2007, Kristen joined her husband Keegan and began working at Orthopedia Physical Therapy, primarily treating children. Working in a variety of practice settings has allowed Kristen the opportunity to work with children with a variety of conditions including but not limited to: cancer, cerebral palsy, burn/wounds, torticollis/plagiocephaly, orthopedic injuries, scoliosis, toe walking, brain injuries, spina bifida, and dystonia.
In addition to her skills in the area of pediatric physical therapy, Kristen brings an athletic background to Orthopedia. As a multi-sport athlete, Kristen has participated in school and club sports, including playing Division I soccer as a team captain at Centenary College of Louisiana. She also coached club soccer. Since 2008, Kristen has enjoyed introducing people to Juice Plus+ as a way to add more fruits and vegetables to their diet in an effort to facilitate disease prevention and healing.
In her leisure time, Kristen enjoys spending time with her husband, Keegan, two sons, Jack and Hayden, and her daughter, Kate. She also teaches Gravity Classes at Orthopedia and is active at her church.
Jackie Simmons, DPT
Jackie Simmons, a licensed staff physical therapist, is a Wyoming native and grew up in Casper, WY. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree, graduating cum laude, from the University of Wyoming in 2006. Following graduation, she left her Wyoming roots and ventured south to pursue her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology at the University of North Texas, graduating in 2008. Jackie received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Texas Woman’s University in 2011.
Jackie specializes in treating general orthopedic and sports-related injuries. Her approach to physical therapy emphasizes a combination of an individualized, therapeutic exercise program and manual therapy interventions. This approach facilitates optimal restoration of strength and motion for an improved quality of life, while providing an opportunity for each of her patients to reach their greatest rehab potential. She is currently pursuing a manual therapy certification through the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT) organization.
In her spare time, Jackie enjoys running and playing indoor and sand volleyball.
Jana Mulligan, PT
Jana Mulligan, PT, joined Orthopedia Physical Therapy on a part-time basis in 2015. She attended Abilene Christian University prior to obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy at the UTMB School of Allied Health Sciences in Galveston in 1982. Over the past 32 years she has experienced a variety of physical therapy settings including inpatient and outpatient neurological rehab. The past 15 years she has worked in outpatient orthopedics. Jana is also co-owner, with her husband, of continuing ED which provides continuing education seminars for physical therapists.
Amy Lawry, office coordinator, has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare field. She has been with Orthopedia Physical Therapy since opening in 2007. She plays an instrumental role in assisting with the daily operations of the clinic and helping patients with their physical therapy scheduling and insurance needs. She is the mother of 4 grown children and grandmother of 4 grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys her family, watching her grandchildren play sports, and having fun with her dog, Ranger.
Amy Nikolopoulos has been on staff at Orthopedia Physical Therapy since 2012. Her primary roles at Orthopedia are as a physical therapy aide, receptionist, and co-fitness coordinator. She graduated from Texas Woman's University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Child Development. She hopes to continue her education in the near future by getting her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. In her leisure time she enjoys spending time with her husband and their fur baby, Mika (she really is the cutest).
