Alan Thompson, PT, LAT
Alan Thompson, Manager/ Partner of Southwest Sports & Spine, is a
licensed physical therapist and athletic trainer. A native of Georgia,
Alan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from
the Medical College of Georgia, graduating with honors. Upon moving to
Dallas in 1988, Alan completed an Athletic Trainer internship at
Southern Methodist University to begin his focus in the treatment of
sports injuries.
Since then, Alan has attended numerous post-graduate courses in the treatment of orthopedic sports injuries, specializing in the treatment of the spine and extremities. With his sports background, Alan works with athletes of all levels. He has been associated with the Dallas Cowboys as a contract physical therapist since 1992 and with the Dallas Stars since 1998. In addition, Alan works with several touring golf professionals and routinely works with high school, college, and recreational athletes.
In his leisure time, Alan enjoys competitive biking and recreational sports. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, Kathy, also a physical therapist, and their two young sons. The family is very active in the community.
Amber Walker, PT
Amber Walker has been practicing as a registered Physical Therapist since 2005. Amber attended the University of Ottawa where she obtained a Bachelors degree in kinesiology, followed by a Masters degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Toronto. She managed and practiced in Canada at an outpatient therapy clinic focusing on acupuncture, manual therapy and sports related injuries. She continues to pursue advanced education in her practice by completing post graduate courses related to manual therapy and rehabilitation of spinal and extremity injuries. Amber is currently working toward her orthopedic certification and dry needling certification.
Amber moved to Texas in 2009, to join her husband who currently serves in the United States Navy, and stationed as NAS Fort Worth. Her outside interests include running, skiing, biking and traveling.
Michael Massenburg, PT
Michael is a licensed physical therapist who earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Hardin-Simmons University in 2008. He specializes in treating orthopedic conditions of the upper and lower extremities along with the spine, utilizing manual therapy techniques and personalized exercise prescription to achieve maximal functional return.
A native of Corpus Christi, he spent his youth at the beach, playing baseball and running cross-country. He continued to play club baseball at Baylor University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science in 2005. He is active with his church and enjoys biking and running between house renovation projects. He lives in Richardson with his beautiful wife who is a professional musician, and their dog.
Kristen Brehm Walton, MPT, OCS
Kristen attended the University of Texas at Austin before obtaining her Masters of Physical Therapy from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 1999. Before joining Southwest Sports and Spine in 2004, Kristen gained experience practicing in outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine facilities in the Fort Worth/Arlington area. She specializes in treating overhead athletes, and has worked closely with the Texas Rangers, UTA and TCU baseball players.
Kristen has attended numerous specialized continuing education courses emphasizing the spine and extremities, utilizing a manual physical therapy approach. She obtained her Orthopedic Clinical Specialist Certification in 2005. She is currently working on a manual therapy certification through the University of St. Augustine.
In 2006, Kristen became very interested in how pilates helped her physical therapy patients. She became a certified pilates instructor, and now also teaches private pilates sessions. In her leisure time, Kristen enjoys traveling, taking yoga and pilates, running, and spending time with her husband and daughter. She is a member of the Dallas Aquatic Masters Swim Club, and has completed two marathons.
